Barcelona, 22nd September 2011 Dear friends, In 2009 I had the honour to participate in an interfaith meeting in New York. There I had the opportunity to meet the delegation from Glasgow. Last year we had the opportunity to meet again with some of them in Barcelona. This year, as Manu must already informed you, it has not been possible for me to visit the largest city in Scottland. I am sorry about it because I would have certainly enjoyed it very much, but I join this meeting from my heart and I join your prayers to the only God, from my faith. These years we have been discovering that the different religous communities in all countries take part in public life and face the great challenges: immigration, violence, discriminations... Estimats amics, L’any 2009 vaig tenir l’honor de participar en l’encontre interreligiós de Nova York. Allí vaig poder conèixer també la delegació de Glasgow. L’any passat ens vam tornar a veure amb alguns a Barcelona. Aquest any, com ja us haurà explicat el Manu, no m’ha estat possible de venir a la ciutat més gran d’Escòcia. Em sap greu, perquè m’hauria agradat molt, però m’ uneixo de cor a la vostra trobada i em sumo a les vostres pregàries a l´únic Déu des de la meva confessió religiosa. Aquests anys hem anat descobrint com les diverses comunitats religioses en els diferents països participen en la vida pública i enfronten grans desafiaments: la immigració, la violència, les desigualtats... Ha estat tot molt interessant però penso que el més important són els llaços d’amistat que anem creant. L’amistat quan és veritable és per sempre.
